DIAGNOSTIC MOLECULAR IMAGING

The department of Nuclear Medicine provides state of the art diagnostic facilities. The department is equipped with 2 PET-CT scanner and One SPECT-CT Scanner.

  1. First PET-CT scanner was installed in 2008 and this was a Hi Rez Tru point system integrated into a 40 slice CT scanner. Integrated PET-CT machine allows the acquisition of PET with localization CT. Upon requirement a regional contrast enhanced (CECT) scan can also be performed with the same equipment in the same sitting.
  2. The second PET-CT scanner is functioning since November 2015. This equipment also from Siemens is unique in the way that it has an extra ring of high sensitive PET detector system (only one in the country) named as Tru V system which allows the patient to be imaged with half the dose and in half the time as compared to the conventional PET-CT scanners available in most of the places today.

Our philosophy is to acquire a best quality PET image with optimum FDG and CT dose and our in house standardized protocols are of immense help in doing this.

We follow the best images with minimum radiation dose concept keeping in mind the patient protection concept. This is also highlighted by the International Atomic Energy agency many times again and again.

The department is manned by qualified and well experienced medical and technical personnel and radiation safety officers. The team consists of 6 Nuclear Physicians, 1 Senior Technical officer, 1 Senior Radio pharmacist, 1 Senior Technologist, 3 Technologists, 1 designated Radiation Safety Officer and other support staff.

All the medical & technical staff members are in possession of qualifications certified by Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India and committed to perform their duties to the highest level clinical competence and radiation safety.
