Intensive Care Unit is an integeral part of the hospital for the management of critically ill cancer patients. A cancer patient (adult or paediatric) is admitted to the ICU for :
- Critical complications of the cancer disease
- Complications of treatment
- Patients requiring cardiopulmonary support
- Severe metabolic problems related to cancer
Intensive care unit is located on 3rd floor of the hospital. It is a 14 - bedded unit. The unit handles more than 1200 admissions annually. The ICU is well equipped with all the necessary modern and sophisticated invasive monitors, ventilators and other necessary equipments.The patient care involves clinical decision making according to well laid down protocols and check - lists.
A dedicated team of Intensivists, Anaesthesiologists and Physicians is present in the ICU with visiting Cardiologist, Nephrologist and Chest Physicians to provide multidisciplinary care.
The nursing care in ICU is focussed to meet the psychological and emotional needs of the patient, apart from routine medical care. Our focus is on providing holistic care for our patients, and ensuring highest level of personalized medical care as per individual needs. We also offer support and counselling services to our patients and their families.
