Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Research Centre (RGCIRC) has opened an international patients lounge in Delhi dedicated to overseas patients it receives every year. The lounge is designed to work on a single window concept, facilitating the entire journey from admission to discharge, saving patients and their attendants unnecessary hassle while fighting cancer.
In 25 years of its existence, more than 14000 international patients have registered for treatment at RGCIRC. Typically, seven to 10 percent of RGCIRC’s patients are from abroad at any point of time, mostly from neighboring countries including Nepal, Bangladesh, and Bhutan, said CEO DS Negi. The lounge was inaugurated jointly by the Ambassador of Nepal, Dr Shankar Prasad Sharma, and the Ambassador of Bhutan, Major General Vetsop Namgyel, in the presence of RGCIRC CEO DS Negi, IAS, and the Medical Director Dr Sudhir Rawal.
