Researcher FAQ’s

Q) What types of Biosamples are available in the RGCIRC Biorepository?
A) Fresh frozen tumor (~200 mg/ vial), adjacent normal tissue (~200 mg/ vial), formalin fixed paraffin embedded blocks (FFPE blocks), EDTA whole blood and its derivatives like plasma, buffy coat (~ 1ml/ vial ), health donor plasma (~ 1ml/ vial) are available in the biorepository. We currently do not provide cells/ cell cultures.

Q) What are the tumor types presently stored in the Biorepository.
A) The Biorepository presently stores around 10,000/ samples across various cancer types like Breast, Kidney, Ovary, Head & Neck and Colorectal Cancers. Project specific prospective collection for the other cancer sites like urinary bladder, pancreas, GI tumors are also ongoing. FFPE archival holds around 500 blocks of various cancer types.

Q) Does RGCIRC provide any other histopathology or Molecular Diagnostic Services?
A) RGCIRC has an NABL approved Histopathology and Molecular Diagnostic Lab . Immunohistochemistry testing and molecular  profiling of tumors can  be done at an additional cost.

Q) Are the Biosamples clinical annotated?
A) Yes, The Cryo storage is  linked to a cloud based sample management software. The system houses more then 300 core data elements which includes patients demographic details, social history, radiological findings, staging, histopathology reports, comprehensive details (Surgery, CT , RT). Follow up at six months, 3 years and 5 years are regularly updated. At the time of sample disbursal and updates excel sheet is provided to the researcher.
