  • Hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) holds a history of more than 50 years. It is a lifesaving procedure in many malignant and benign hematological and non-hematological disorders.
  • Until last decade, most of the allogenic transplants in India were performed using grafts from fully match sibling only. With availability of national and international donor registries, many options of match unrelated stem cell transplant are opening up.
  • With the emergence of safety and success of haploidentical transplant (Half match transplant), full match HLA donor is no longer a limiting factor for patients who deserve a BMT.
