Note from CEO

The Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Research Centre (RGCIRC) was born in 1996, fueled by an inspiring troika of values: quality, affordability, and easy access to cancer care. The spirit of social responsibility and philanthropy ignited the idea of a comprehensive cancer facility offering everything from prevention to palliation, all under one compassionate roof. It was a vision driven not by profits but by a heartfelt commitment to serve humanity.

As it enters into 27th year of their existence, the institute looks back with gratitude, acknowledging the patients as their guiding voice. Its feedback, a potent mix of admonishment and appreciation, fuels the institution’s quest for constant improvement. Every word of praise is cherished, and every critique is taken to heart as they strive to plug the holes in their care, seeking to provide the best possible experience for those in their care.

The journey has been one of perseverance, fueled by hard work and sheer determination. The initial funds were raised through relentless efforts, as they set out to establish a not-for-profit institution that would stand as a beacon of hope for cancer patients. The patients themselves have become integral partners in their philanthropic endeavors, amplifying the impact of their collective efforts.

The institute dreams of reaching beyond the confines of Delhi, to spread its healing touch to more lives. A vision that requires resources, and thus, they set their sights on building a substantial corpus fund of 100 crore rupees, a testament to the audacity of their dreams.

Beyond the tangible, RGCIRC has an intangible heart that beats for its patients. The digitization of medical records is not merely about efficiency; it represents a shift towards more holistic, patient-centered care, acknowledging the stories and struggles that lie behind each record.

We are in the process digitising our medical records and moving swiftly towards paper-less operations. Most of us remember how this institute was built little by little, and how little became a lot. We now move into a new phase of consolidation and expansion to build an edifice that the next 25 years would be proud of.
