Note from MD
It is a privilege honor and a profound responsibility to take on the role of Managing Director at the Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute & Research Centre (RGCIRC), an institution that has established itself as a leading centre for comprehensive cancer care in India.
My association with RGCIRC spans more than two decades. Since joining the Department of Medical Oncology in 2000, I have had the opportunity to witness the institution evolve from its early years into a comprehensive cancer centre driven by clinical excellence, cutting edge technology, research and, most importantly, a deep commitment to patients and their families.
The late Mr. KK Mehta played a pivotal role in laying the foundation of this institution, driven by the spirit of social responsibility and philanthropy.
Cancer care is constantly evolving, with advances in precision medicine, targeted therapies, immunotherapy, technology and multidisciplinary treatment transforming the way cancer is diagnosed and treated. At RGCIRC, our endeavour will continue to be to bring these advances together with compassionate, ethical and patient-centric care.
As an institution, we remain committed to strengthening our clinical services, advancing research and innovation, fostering academic excellence and continuously investing in the knowledge and capabilities of our healthcare professionals. We will also continue to encourage collaboration and the adoption of evidence-based practices to ensure that our patients receive the highest standards of care.
Research and education have always been integral to my professional journey, and I firmly believe that a strong academic and research environment is essential for advancing cancer care. RGCIRC will continue to strengthen its contribution to clinical research, medical education and knowledge sharing, while creating opportunities for the next generation of healthcare professionals. We would strive to incorporate Artificial Intelligence and its nuances as we surge forward to reach our goals.
At the heart of everything we do is the patient. Every diagnosis carries with it a journey of uncertainty, hope and courage. Our responsibility is not only to provide the best possible treatment, but also to ensure that every patient and family feels supported, respected and cared for throughout their journey.
As we move forward, our focus will remain on building upon the strong foundation of RGCIRC while embracing new opportunities for growth, innovation and collaboration. Together, with our dedicated clinicians, nurses, researchers, technicians, administrators and support teams, we will strive to make cancer care more accessible, advanced and compassionate.
I look forward to working with the entire RGCIRC family as we continue our journey towards creating better outcomes for our patients and contributing meaningfully to the fight against cancer.
