The Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Research Centre (RGCIRC) is a prestigious cancer care institution based in Delhi, India. Established in 1996, the institute was founded with a noble vision of providing quality, affordable, and easily accessible cancer care to the society. The late Mr. KK Mehta played a pivotal role in laying the foundation of this institution, driven by the spirit of social responsibility and philanthropy.
RGCIRC began its journey with a modest setup of 152 beds, two linear accelerators, an MRI, and three operation rooms. However, the dedicated team of professionals at RGCIRC worked tirelessly to overcome initial financial challenges, and by May 4000, the institute started to thrive, setting the stage for a remarkable future.
Over the years, RGCIRC has grown and evolved, becoming a leading cancer care center in the region. The institute has expanded its facilities, adding new blocks and state-of-the-art medical equipment to offer cutting-edge treatments and surgical procedures. Notably, RGCIRC emerged as a trailblazer in robotic surgeries, completing over 1000 successful procedures and gaining recognition in the EuroAsia region.
Research has been a core component of RGCIRC’s mission. The institute established a world-class biorepository and molecular diagnostic laboratory to contribute to scientific knowledge and collaborate with the global research community. This dedication to research has enriched the understanding of cancer and advanced treatment modalities.
The Department of Imaging is equipped with advanced MRI, CT scans, and Interventional Oncology facilities to ensure accurate and timely diagnosis. The institute also offers home care services for terminally ill patients and provides psycho-social counseling to support patients and their families.
With a constant focus on improvement and expansion, RGCIRC aims to reach beyond Delhi and touch more lives.
