RGCIRC Biorepository is the largest hospital based tumor repository in North India. We provide unparalleled sample resources to researchers in India and overseas both from academia and industry. We have a membership of good standing with International Society for Biological and Environmental Repository (ISBER).
Our mission is to help researchers find novel targets for cancer therapy/developing better diagnostic tools and newer drug therapies. Apart from being pioneers in the field of Indian biobanking we also aim to promote learnings in biobanks through a series of annual academic masterclasses .These series will cover unexplored areas in Indian biobanking , annually . One such effort in the current year of 2023 is to impart knowledge on the cellular basics of biobanking for better biobanking practices.
Cryobiology forms the scientific basis of cryopreservation and biobanking. Cryopreservation is the most effective method of long term storage of biological material including cells, tissues and even organs. Understanding cellular behavior’s at low temperatures can help optimize biobanking practices. So this masterclass is themed as, Chilling Discoveries: Unveiling the secrets of cryobiology which aims to cover the niche area of cryobiology, relatively unexplored in the Indian Biobanking setting. This masterclass will upskill the biobanking fraternity and will also set the stage for exploring newer avenues .
