Academic Program

The Department of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology is running a two year fellowship program that is accredited by the National Board of Examinations. Two positions are available each year. Trainees on this program are also eligible for taking the exam conducted by the Indian academy of Pediatrics (FIAP). The Fellowship program is structured to provide training for bright, highly motivated candidates seeking careers in Pediatric Hematology Oncology. The clinical service is diverse, drawing patients from all over the country. The high volume and diversity of new diagnoses seen at the institute ensure a uniquely robust training experience in pediatric hematology, oncology and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. The scientific environment at the institute is excellent with regular multispeciality clinics and a carefully organized didactic curriculum. All this lays emphasis on both fundamental concepts and current advances in the subspeciality.

The trainee is expected to develop a thorough understanding of the pathophysiology of disorders related to Pediatric Hematology / Oncology / SCT and develop skills in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of these disorders. During their training, they additionally should become competent in developing skills related to the selection and evaluation of diagnostic procedures to carry out thorough evaluations of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology/SCT disorders.

Publication

Our department is committed to conduct clinical and basic research related to Pediatric Hematology Oncology. The faculty and staff in the department are engaged in individual projects and also try to collaborate with other centers to conduct multicentric studies.
