Alcohol , Smoking and Social Habits

Dr. A.K. Dewan, Principal Director – Surgical Oncology, RGCIRC, was featured in The Times of India in an article examining when “social” habits such as occasional smoking and alcohol consumption can become a health risk. Dr. Dewan highlighted that there is no risk-free level of tobacco use and that even occasional smoking exposes the body to nicotine and cancer-causing chemicals, with the combination of alcohol and tobacco being particularly concerning because alcohol can increase exposure of mouth and throat tissues to harmful substances.
