Breast Cancer isnt just a disease of the Older Women

The article explains that breast cancer is increasingly being diagnosed in women under 40, challenging the common belief that it’s primarily a disease of older women. Dr Garima Daga, Senior Consultant in Surgical Oncology at RGCIRC – Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Research Centre, says that while age remains a factor, more younger women are now being diagnosed because of a combination of lifestyle changes, genetic predisposition, environmental exposures, delayed childbirth, rising obesity, and hormonal influences. She notes that younger women often dismiss early symptoms like lumps or changes because they think they are too young for cancer, which can delay diagnosis. Dr Daga emphasizes the need for greater awareness and for women under 40 to take breast health seriously, perform regular self-exams, and seek timely medical evaluation to improve outcomes
