A recent study published in the JAMA Open Network by the National Cancer Registry Programme has identified Hyderabad as India’s breast cancer capital, with an age-adjusted incidence rate of 54.0 per 100,000 women. Dr. Vishvak Chanthar shared his views on the topic and stated that the rise in cases is closely linked to lifestyle changes that accompany modernization—sedentary habits, obesity, alcohol consumption, delayed childbearing, and reduced breastfeeding practices are key contributors. Addressing this challenge requires a proactive, multi-pronged approach. Modern techniques like Oncoplastic breast surgery, Image-Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT), Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) allow experts to provide precise, patient-centered care.
