Dr. Amitabh Singh, Senior Consultant of Genito-Uro-Oncology at RGCIRC, explains that because the kidneys are located deep within the abdomen, small tumors often grow quietly without causing early pain or clear warning signs. He highlights that while many cases are now discovered incidentally during routine imaging like ultrasounds or CT scans, India still faces a high mortality rate from the disease, making awareness of late-stage symptoms like haematuria (blood in the urine) and persistent flank or lower back pain absolutely vital for securing timely medical evaluation and life-saving early intervention.
