Doctors from Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Research Centre (RGCIRC) successfully performed a remote surgery using the indigenous robot ‘Mantra’ on a 52-year-old bladder cancer patient. Conducted from Gurugram while the patient was in Rohini, this marks a major advancement in medical technology. Dr. Sudhir Rawal, Medical Director of RGCIRC, emphasized the precision and safety of telesurgery, highlighting its potential to transform healthcare, particularly for underserved Tier 3 and Tier 4 cities in India. Robust fiber optic networks are crucial for the seamless operation of this technology.
