Doctors at Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Research Centre (RGCIRC) in Rohini achieved a milestone by performing India’s first telesurgery using the indigenous surgical robot, Mantra. Led by surgeon Dr. SK Rawal, the team conducted a complex procedure to remove urinary bladder cancer remotely from Gurgaon, 40km away. Fiber-optic technology enabled precise control over robotic instruments, demonstrating the potential to revolutionize healthcare access in smaller cities and remote areas.
