Published : 19 June, 2024

Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Research Centre (RGCIRC) achieved a milestone by conducting India’s first cancer telesurgery, led by Dr. Sudhir Rawal, Medical Director and Chief of Genital Urinary Oncology. Using the indigenous SSI Mantra Robot from Gurugram, the surgery for urinary bladder cancer was performed remotely while the patient remained at RGCIRC’s Rohini Centre in Delhi. The successful procedure, completed in one hour and forty-five minutes, highlights RGCIRC’s dedication to pioneering advancements in surgical technology for improved patient outcomes. CEO D.S. Negi emphasized the institute’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of cancer care through such innovations.
