The article tells the inspiring story of Meeta Khanna, a teacher and cancer survivor who was diagnosed with endometrial adenocarcinoma (cancer of the uterine lining) after years of unexplained symptoms. Her journey began in 2018 and ended with a confirmed diagnosis in 2021 at RGCIRC – Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Research Centre under the care of Dr Vandana Jain, Senior Consultant and Head of the Gynecologic Oncology Department. Meeta underwent surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation through 2022, and today she is officially cancer-free, back to teaching, writing, and traveling. Dr Jain emphasizes that battling cancer is not just a physical struggle but also an emotional and psychological one, and that combining evidence-based treatment with empathy helps survivors not only survive but reclaim their joy and purpose in life.
