On June 10, 2024, the Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Research Centre (RGCIRC) in Rohini achieved a historic milestone by performing India’s first telesurgery for cancer care. Led by Dr. Sudhir Rawal, a trailblazer in robotic surgery, the procedure involved a Radical Cysto-Prostatectomy with Bilateral Lymph node removal. The surgery was conducted remotely from the SSI Office in Gurugram, while the patient remained at RGCIRC. This breakthrough surgery with the help of the SSI Mantra Robot developed by SS Innovations underscores significant progress in telesurgery technology. It aligns with India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative, promising to make advanced robotic surgery more accessible and cost-effective. This achievement enhances surgical precision and improves access to specialized care, marking a significant advancement in the field.
