Mr. Ashok Kumar Agarwal is the Chairman of Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute & Research Centre, brings with him over 40 years of leadership experience in engineering, infrastructure development, and organizational management. Known for his visionary leadership and strategic approach, he has played a significant role in strengthening institutions and driving sustainable growth.
Mr. Agarwal previously held key leadership positions within the ETA Ascon Group, where he contributed significantly to transforming the organization into a US$ 1.3 billion enterprise. Through his innovative leadership, he introduced a model that made each business vertically responsible for its own profitability, resulting in remarkable growth and operational efficiency.
During his tenure, ETA expanded its operations across the UAE, India, Kuwait, and other international markets, delivering globally recognized infrastructure projects such as the Burj Khalifa, Dubai Metro, Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dubai International Airport, and underground stations of the Delhi Metro, including Terminal 3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport Terminal 3.
Mr. Agarwal holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology, Bhopal, completed the Executive Programme in Business Management from Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, and underwent Advanced Management Training at Stanford Graduate School of Business.
He began his professional career in 1971 as a Management Trainee at Voltas Limited and joined ETA Ascon Group in 1978, where he established the MEP division and led major projects including the Ruwais Housing Complex. His leadership also helped secure the Mitsubishi agency, establish ETA’s Materials Division, and expand the company’s operations into India. He also brought collaboration with Fujitsu General to manufacture O General brand air conditioners in India in 2000.
Mr. Agarwal retired from ETA in 2014, leaving behind a legacy of strategic leadership, innovation, and operational excellence. As Chairman, he continues to guide the institute in its mission to deliver world-class cancer care, research, and education.
