Rashmi Tyagi was a 53 year old widow from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, entrusted with raising her two children alone. As the sole earner, she managed a small tailoring business from her modest home—sewing garments with determination and dedication. Rashmi began noticing alarming symptoms—unusual vaginal bleeding and persistent pelvic pain. Concerned for her health, she consulted a local doctor. The test results led to a referral to a RGCIRC, where she was diagnosed with carcinoma of the cervix. Initially she is Under the care of Dr. Sumit Goyal, a comprehensive treatment plan was initiated involving chemotherapy, followed by radiotherapy. Then doctor asked her for surgery to get best recovery, Rashmi’s resolve was strong, but the mounting medical bills, travel costs, and supportive care expenses weighed heavily on her.
With the guidance of Dr. Rawal, she applied for financial aid through the hospital’s Patient Welfare Department. Her application was supported by a generous grant of ₹300,000 from the INDIAN OIL CORPORATION LIMITED (IOCL), which alleviated much of the financial burden and ensured she received the best possible treatment.
Rashmi began her surgery with determination, between treatments, she continued tailoring outfits driven by hope to provide for her family and fight for her own life. Despite the unwavering efforts of Dr. Rawal and the entire medical team—whose expertise, empathy, and dedication guided her every step—Rashmi’s condition worsened. After several intense month of Surgery, she passed away, surrounded by her children, on April 24, 2025. Though her battle ended, Rashmi’s story is a tribute to courage, resilience, and the impact of compassionate support. She faced her illness head-on, bolstered by the care of Dr. Rawal, the backing of IOCL’s welfare grant, and the love she carried for her children.
